We are nearing closer and closer each day to "dual sport season", my favorite time of year. Go sledding all day in the hot pow and then head down hill for a bike ride. Not quite though, winter is not completely over. This past week has been filled with almost continuous precipitation, and if you get up there early, it is still pretty soft and fluffy. The noon hour is when it starts to turn to mashed potatoes. Still fun but definitely gets heavier. The avalanche conditions are still tricky up there, especially with the new snow that we receive daily, and the moderate winds creating interesting wind slabs.
Looking forward we have another 2 days of precipitation and freezing levels to 1500m. The sun might come out for a little twinkle on Sunday, so it looks like a great day to ride with some tinted lenses and cooler temperatures! The trail report is as to be expected for this time of year - thundered. The groomed trails don't last too long in this weather and any areas that don't get groomed regularly are absolutely miserable. Huge whoops - crank up your suspension and pin it.
Stay safe out there friends, and as always, check the avalanche conditions at your riding area at www.avalanche.ca
